Beth podiums at National Championships - Sunday, June 4, 2017

June 1, 2017. This  past week JoeFroyo p/b Old Town Bicycles was proudly represented at the USA Cycling Masters National Championship by Beth Graff who competed in both the Time Trial (TT) and the Road Race. The TT was a scorcher, held in the afternoon heat and humidity of Augusta, GA. Beth did an outstanding ride against a tough field and rode to a 5th place finish. On Saturday she was at it again in the Road Race. Although the race was held in cooler temperatures it was not any easier. The women completed the 45 mile at a blistering pace on a hilly course that saw Beth again make it to the podium with her 5th place finish in the Road Race.

Beth on the podium!

2 Podiums at the Masters State Championships! - Saturday, May 13, 2017

On May 13th 2017 JoeFroyo/pb Old Town Bicycles was well represented at the Masters State Championships. In the 60+ men’s race Steve Matson got things started when he rode on a solo effort on the first small rise of the race and maintained it for almost half the race. Jeff Paterson rode hard covering any moves the pack made trying to catch Steve. When Steve was finally caught Paul Coffee went with three other riders in the move that would eventually stay away. With 5 miles to go Paul attacked his breakaway partners which resulted in a two riders being dropped. In the final sprint Paul just missed and was beaten at the line by inches. Paul finished 2nd, Steve finished 5th and Jeff Finished in 8th.

In the 50+ race Rick Roof, racing solo, sat in and rode in the pack for most of the race. On the final climb of the day he moved up near the front of the field and positioned himself for the final sprint. With 275 meters to the finish Rick opened up the legs in a sprint to the finish. With 50 meters to go his foot slips out of the pedal and was caught at the line to finish 3rd.

Congrats to all the racers on an outstanding job!
